Elke klankschaal wordt met aandacht en zorg met de hand gehamerd. Dit handmatige proces volgt verschillende stappen, waarin de schaal geleidelijk haar vorm krijgt en de zuivere toon ontstaat.

Voor de bronzen schalen worden koper en tin als hoofdbestanddelen gebruikt. Afhankelijk van het type schaal smelten vaklieden ook andere metalen zoals ijzer, lood, goud en zilver samen in een oven. Het gesmolten metaal wordt in een mal gegoten en daarna in schijven gesneden van verschillende diameters en diktes. Deze schijven worden zorgvuldig met de hand gehamerd tot de juiste vorm en grootte, na een nauwkeurige meting van het gewicht.

Vijf schijven worden op elkaar gestapeld en tot roodgloeiend verhit in de oven. Daarna worden ze stuk voor stuk in komvorm gehamerd met behulp van een mal.

De vaklieden werken alleen met roodgloeiend metaal, want als het teveel afkoelt, wordt het fragiel en kunnen er scheuren ontstaan. Als dit gebeurt, is de schaal niet meer bruikbaar. Zodra de schaal haar grove vorm heeft, begint het fijne afwerkingsproces. Hierbij krijgt elke schaal haar unieke vorm en klank, door opnieuw zorgvuldig hamerwerk en verhitting tot roodgloeiend.

Tot slot worden de schalen van binnen en buiten geschuurd, gepolijst en waar nodig met beitels bewerkt tot de laatste details.

Let op: omdat deze klankschaal met de hand wordt gehamerd en meerdere stadia doorloopt om een heldere toon te creëren, kan de diameter iets variëren. De aangegeven maat is daarom een indicatie.

Amazing ability to calm red, itchy skin but pricier than alternatives
When I saw this product, I was a bit skeptical. I have extremely dry skin that’s prone to red, itchy spots but it seemed unlikely a misty spray would be anywhere near as beneficial as the creams and ointments I’ve turned to over the years. Since I’ve used other COOLA products and really liked them, I decided to give it a try and I was pleasantly surprised. I tried it on a couple of red patches on my face. There’s an immediate feeling of cooling relief (which leads me to believe this would also be a great solution for a burn), but what I found amazing was the redness decreased significantly and immediately. After a few minutes, I was able to put on makeup, forgoing concealer on those spots. I also tried it on a red, itchy spot on my leg, again calming the itch and decreasing the redness. Just because it seemed unwise to start using hypochlorous acid, the active ingredient in this spray, knowing nothing about it, I did a bit of online research. Apparently, not only is it considered safe and recommended by dermatologists for eczema like conditions, it also is antibacterial and can be used to keep cuts clean and help them heal. I’m sold on the concept of this spray. My one hesitation is that it seems to be more expensive than other similar options – particularly when you do the math to determine cost per ounce. I am a real fan of the COOLA brand, but given that my skin is such that I’ll probably use this regularly, the cost differential may become prohibitive. I would highly recommend this product for anyone who wants it on hand for the occasional sunburn or blemish. For those like me who would benefit by using it once or more per day, while still singing its praises as to efficacy, I would have to qualify the recommendation due to price.
